When someone thinks about human trafficking, they may not always think that it can happen in rural West Texas. Instead, most people associate Houston or Dallas with human trafficking. But human trafficking can and does happen in West Texas, and a recent operation in Lubbock proves that the crime is happening here.

Multiple Victims Rescued From Human Trafficking in Lubbock

According to KAMC, multiple agencies were involved in the operations including the Lubbock Police Department’s Special Operations Human Trafficking Unit, Department of Homeland Security, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Lubbock County Sheriff's Department and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

There were multiple operations throughout January according to KAMC.

The operations were successful. 10 victims were rescued and there were 20 felony arrests. The arrests including charges of Aggravated Promotion of Prostitution, Solicitation of Prostitution, Prostitution and more. Each victim was put in touch with Voice of Hope. Voice of Hope is a non-profit organization that helps to provide resources for victims of human trafficking.
